Sometimes you just have to make due with what you have. When I turned 16 I wanted a cool car. I considered a variety of domestic made cars, including the F-body. It's hard to believe now, but at the time I did not care for Mustang's very much. The exterior redesign in 99 changed my mind. When the Ch*vy dealer did not have any Camaros on the lot I was off to the Ford dealer. After a few weeks of looking I ordered a Bright Atlantic Blue 00 V6 Mustang automatic in September of 99.
By early 00 I was on the V6 forums and started modding the car, a custom intake, dual exhaust, lowering springs, 99 Cobra wheels, and some other minor mods to start with. I started looking at superchargers, at the time Vortech was the only game in town. I almost bought one, the lack of tuning kept me from doing it at the time. Imagine that. At the time no one knew how to properly manipulate the returnless fuel system, calibrated maf's and devices that tricked the rail pressure sensor were a joke. I decided to go the nitrous route in the mean time. For a short while in early 2001 the car had a need for speed powerdyne blower kit on it, with a custom air/air intercooler that I came up with. Between the lack of available tuning and bad blower bearings it was not on there for very long.
I continued to campaign the car at the track with nitrous. Early on I started dreaming up a turbo kit, I knew this was the best way to reach my goal of 400RWHP. To be continued....
