Hi, at dyno days we charge $60 for 2 pulls, at the shop we charge $100/hr for dyno usage, 1hr minimum. I might be interested in tuning the car after you have turbonetics do it.

yeah that would be cool. I would like to check it and see how it is doing. They said they would be very conservative on the tune and set the max boost at 8.5psi. I am not 100% sure how much boost it will actually take though. What are you guys taking stock 4.6 3valves too? I attached some pics of the kit. They are going to be polishing the intake tube before they ship it out...

I will holler at you when I get it maybe we can set something up. Do you have any dyno graphs for stock 05 up mustangs?

Thanks,
Mike

I have seen 10-12psi on various supercharged 3vs. One went to 13psi. I have not done anything higher than that with a stock motor though. I worked on a few at 15-18psi with built motors.

I'm afraid that MAF housing is going to be too large and result in a poor signal. I prefer 3" or 3.25" max, on procharger kits with a 3.5" maf housing I have seen the signal quality go to hell. We can see how your setup works on the dyno though. That piece that made going into the TB is really neat, but I don't think its necessary. It looks like there is 4" tube going to the TB, 3" is good for about 600hp, and 3.5" for 800-900hp.

cool. They have planned to ship the car this Friday the 15th of June and it should take less than two weeks to get it here... I am hoping sooner than that... hehe...

i will keep you updated... where are the pics of your car? What are your normal hrs?

Also I was thinking of a small 2.5 inch cowl hood or maybe a Cobra R to help get rid of some of the heat. what is your thoughts on that?

thanks much,
Mike.

Hey do you think it would be beneficial for me to have the pro racer software to use with the SCT Strategy Flash? I really want to learn the tuning aspects of the car and thought I could use this software to get me started... of course... hehe... i will need a trainer. :D

Yeah the PRP would be good to have. You actually want the x-cal2 9400, not the SF.

hehe... figures... so i got a SCT Strategy Flash for sale hehe.

It will work, but there is no value in buying it solely for the purpose of custom tuning a vehicle. The x-cal2 custom 9400 with tunes from a dealer is a better option.

Hey Justin I got the car this am! When i got it i think they had crippled the tune in it for the shipping and I loaded their turbo tune that they provided in another SCT Strategy Flash they had given me and it ran alot better. I would like to introduce the two of you and see what you can do with it. When will you be in your shop? Are you going to the track friday night?

took it out for a drive last night and it seems to run very well when accelerating. While just cruising or just idling through the neighborhood at 20mph the car seems to stumble, miss, and just act kinda rough. Is this something that can be tuned out? Also i tried to use the Cruise Control and as soon as i press the Cruise Set button it lit the wrench light on the dash. I had to pull over and reload the program. I drove it pretty hard a few times and under acceleration it pulls hard and didn't seem to have any problems with it except once it did the wrench thing. I have the livelink sw and i am going to run the logger on the way to work and see if i can get the code and see what is happening when it throws a wrench. hehe.

What tables should I monitor on the datalogger? what i have is
short term fuel trim left and right
maf counts
maf voltage
throttle position
LOAD
throttle position actual

thanks.
Mike

I don't know how big of a mass air housing you ended up with, but that may not be helping things. 3-3.25" is really the max to get a clean signal.

The CC is an ETC issue.

In looking at it, it seemed like the mass air tube is about 3 inches in diameter and after the 90 it seems like it is about the same. The tubing after the 90 looks larger but is in not round it is oval like the snout on the throttle body. The sensor is in the tube right as it starts to collapse for the 90.

I added a pic of the MAF location. I tried to upload a datalog from livelink and i think i have exceeded my upload limits. Here is a link to it if you are interest in seeing it.

It wasnt a hard drive but i may give you a idea.

what is maf counts?
hehe

here is a link to the video from last night at the track.
http://turborides.com/forums/thread4714.html

ran a whopping 13.50@112 hehe.
The car seemed to run strong and I know i need to learn how to drive it. I had hoped it would get closer to the 12s but with the mph i know its there. I have to learn how to leave the line and I know I will need some Drag Radials.

So.. is it bad to launch with Traction Control on? hehe... I forgot to turn that off.

I had driven the car home (Apopka to Winter Garden) then from Winter Garden to the strip. Ran through tech and got in line and ran the car within 10 minutes of pulling off of Highway 50.

First pass
13.50 @112

Second Pass
13.6 @ 110 (after sitting for about a hr)

The car runs great under acceleration but it is the cruising that is rough. Justin is gonna help me out this Wednesday morning and we will see how she runs then.

man i hope so... it is a 5speed, I had a turbo 89 before and i put a C4 in i so driving a stick is new to me. I had good reaction times but wasnt launching it hard.. plus the traction control was on DOH!!!

lol got to remember to take TC off .. but not launching it hard is also another factor,
with the stick you got to launch hard and power-shift every gear,
with an Auto boost will remain 100% during shift, with stick only power-shift
helps a bit .. hell if you get a perfect run power-shifting and all you may even
see high 11's on DR's

Hey Justin,
I loaded your tune this morning and the car run 100% better! I no longer get the DTCs and the Wrench light. the car run alot smoother and all around it is just 100% better! Cant wait to get the mods done that we talked about and get it back to you. I was wondering what you would sell me the MAF mounting boss and possibly the plastic MAF housing you made? I was thinking i could use two 3inch elbows and put your piece in the center? what do you think about that?

Hey Mike, I've been meaning to finish typing up an eamil to you. I was going to mention trying that tune, I figured you would be a lot happier with it even for now.

The flange is $45, then you can use your stock maf + extender or an HPX sensor from my site.

kewl. When would be a good time to pick it up from ya? I am going to try and get that intake piece made this weekend and i figured that maf housing you made would be perfect for me. What is the diameter of that piece?

yeah the car hicups a little but not like it was... the roughness is just about 2k in first and second gear... the rest of the time it is smooth... I drove it to Crystal River this weekend and never had a problem with it... hehe.. .well no problem other than it smoking the tires in second gear hehe... If i get the pipe built should i run the datalogging and see what the maf counts are? What else should I look at?

Thanks Justin,
Mike
