View Full Version : Welding and cutting on a stock GT500 blower

Just figured I would post a shot of a little project i have been working on. I welded a bunch of material onto key areas of the stock blower housing, and will have my porter Brian/Posi take out a bunch of material on the inside. However, before sending it to him, I decided to put it in the mill and give him a head start, man that aluminum cuts easy!

I have a TVS on my car, but am messing with the stock blower just to see what can be done. I want to be ready with a crazy ported stock blower when I go and do the durability testing on our upcoming quick-change nose drive. The drive will allow anything from a 2.2" to 3" pulley to be bolted right on. The nose drive is a complete replacement that is engineered for high speeds and will come with a full 1 year warranty. My car is an excellent candidate for durability testing because it has a 10% lower, with the 2.2" upper, I'll be able to run 23,000RPM or 3.5:1 drive ratio on the blower! Those little eaton rotors will be screaming but they should hang on :hysterical:

We'll also be using our big D-port elbow and 72mm throttle body, to get tons of air into the stock blower. The "big" elbow has a floor that is 3/16-1/4" lower than stock, which is material that simply does not exist on the stock elbow so even the best porters can not match what our elbow will flow.
