Rick K's aka Nick Cage's 03 Cobra Vert 504rwhp/503rwtq 9/06
Rick has a black 03 cobra vert, we were able to dyno it with a stock motor. The car made great #s at 8.5psi of boost on a warm day.
He added a ported blower, long tubes, intake, upper and lower pulleys. The car originally made only 491rwhp, a little low for this combo. We potentially attributed some of this to the breakup at high RPMs. The car was also very heat soaked from many dyno runs. Even having 3 2000+CFM fans on a car is not always enough.
He brought the car back over a month later for some additional testing. It immediantly picked up power from the cooler weather and cooler motor. The breakup was still there though, we tried swapping coils from another car, to no avail. We then tried a BAP powering the coils and made runs at 14v, 17v, and 15-16v (in the middle), there was no difference. We did not have any aftermarket drop in coils to try. I am not completely convinced this is a coil issue, the old EEC-5 is somewhat slow and outdated, it may not have enough control at high RPMs. The Ford GTs see these same issues, both stock cars and 1000+rwhp TT cars. Though it is much worse on the TT cars at high boost. They also run an EEC-5.
