Lightbulb Helpful Hint: To speed up fog light installation...

Getting the top two screws in each fog light is tedious and very time consuming even if using a magnetic screwdriver. There is very little room and the screw keeps falling off the end of the screwdriver!

To speed up fog light installation I used light cloth medical tape, like you find in a first aid kit, and taped the screw head to the end of the screwdriver. Had second light installed in less than 5 minutes.

Where did you get your wiring harness and switch from?

i got both from www.cjponyparts.com but i think the switch they sent me was bad.... ntm the wronge model year as well.. cuz the one i got doesnt look like the one picture on your site... looks like one for a later model.. its not a rocker switch but its display light to tell ya the lights are on looks different.. and it didnt click when youd push it either (hence why i think its defective from the lack of clicking..) Ive ordered another switch for my yr stang from ford ($30.98 cheaper than the last switch i bought) so itll be monday before i get it and put it in... hopefully when i get it itll work ... if not im SOL.... and maybe later when i can afford it ill see if i can get just your wiring harness, relay, fuse from you... ive got the light assemblys the bulbs.. and soon will have the switch.. if this switch doesnt work i dunno what im going to do...

http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50000016a~Z5Z5Z5ABISM~ P89.95~~~~S1SL16GN5Y70174341835a~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000 016A

theres the link to the wire harness i had... they didnt sent a wire diagram but the do offer one on their site.. but when they showed the switch side it didnt explain far enough ...

http://www.cjponyparts.com/TechFog99.asp

^^ their wire diagram didnt say what wire to splice into for the switch to actually work... other than the dual relays and the wire color coding its similar to yours from what i could see...

Think im just gonna break down and spend the $$ to get your harness.. im getting tired of messing with this one trying to make it work right and having no luck with it... dad wants me to splice into the headlight controll switch itself and theres no way im ever gonna do that and end up risking the chance of one day having no headlights at all...

Well im glad to say that when i replaced the other harness with yours it finnaly worked found out the other harness had multiple shorts in it leading to the lamps and didnt feel like trying to fix it anymore.. Am very happy that your harness works but i do have one question though.. In my area they do these state inspections once a year and they "Require" the lamps shut off when the high beams come on.. is there a way to wire your harness up so that they shut off when the high beams flip on? I figured that when it switched to high beams it would have killed it at the switch but it didnt.. Itd be great if you could instruct me in how to make this happen..
Thanks in advance

Our wiring harness is setup so that the foglights dont shut off when the highbeams come on as you said. Basically you just need to wire in another relay that turns the foglights off when the highbeams come on.

nahh i still got the relays from the other harness i have ... going to cannibalize it and try and use one of the relays from it and hope it works.. just not quite sure how to wire it up so itll kill the fogs when high beams come on...

No extra relays are needed to make the fog lights turn off with the high beams. All you have to do is splice the fog light relay ground to the high beam positive wire. Hope that helps!

ohh i figured out how to do the extra relay awhile ago... just wired up the relay so it was hot at all times... ran battery power lead through relay so it had power at all time.. then spliced the "cutout" relay directly into high beams wire so that it broke the circuit killing all power to the other harness... felt leary of cutting into the headlights wireharness but it all works and high beams still function without problems..

Default Removing Bezels concern

From the V6 foglight install.... how difficult is this? Any pics or tips on removing the bezels?
4. To remove the bezel around the air conditioner vents and radio, firmly pull it out.
5. Remove the shifter bezel, if it is an automatic you may have to move the shifter.
Thanks!

Make sure its warm outside if possible, makes the bezel a little more flexible. Wrap a flathead screwdriver in a rag to pry up on the bezel. Be gentle.

I have installed the 01-04 kit several times and if you are able to pop out the little insert for the foglight switch and you pull the wiring / connector out to work on and you wont need to remove the bezel around the radio.
